This role is responsible for the development of a comprehensive communications and engagement program for Switzerland as well as ensuring effective alignment of communication across the sites in Switzerland. The role sits within the Syngenta Crop Protection Communications team but will also work closely with the Syngenta Group to ensure alignment in communications approaches and messaging. 

Purpose:  
•    Developing and implementing an integrated communications and engagement program that builds the brand and reputation of Syngenta in Switzerland with a range of external stakeholders and ensures Swiss employees are informed on key topics. 
•    Creating, managing, and measuring Syngenta Swiss communication channels, ensuring compelling content and alignment of messaging across channels
•    Working closely with the Syngenta Group media team to support with build the company’s profile and manage issues – particularly with regards to trade media, local media around sites as well as on agricultural topics and CP issues
•    Working closely with the Syngenta Switzerland President to support Swiss engagement and communications activities
•    Ensuring alignment of Swiss-wide communication activities or programs via communicators network, also coordinating with ADAMA if required
•    Building strong local networks and managing any local sponsoring activities and participating in neighborhood or other local forums as required
•    Contributing as an active member of the Global CP Communications team and the Syngenta Management Committee Switzerland

Accountabilities
•    Developing and delivering agreed and prioritized communication and engagement activities or key initiatives for key external stakeholder groups in Switzerland, to build the brand and reputation of Syngenta (including Crop Protection) and supporting Group priorities  
•    Develops communication plan to build employer brand in Switzerland
•    Developing and implementing stakeholder events (e.g. from concept, design, budgeting, organization through to implementation and measurement)
•    Developing a calendar of local authority, councils and neighborhood forums that Syngenta is represented in and manage the Basel sponsoring budget for local sponsorships that build strong community connections and ensures an optimal/sustainable outcome (ROI) of investments
•    Contributing to the communication and engagement plans for the Syngenta CP HQ in Basel
•    Developing, managing and measuring Syngenta Swiss communication channels, including Swiss Syngenta website, Swiss social media channels
•    Developing / contributing to editorial calendar for Switzerland that maximizes impact, identifying stories for external communication within Switzerland, as well as stories for use internally within both Switzerland and across Syngenta CP 
•    Ensuring compelling content (e.g. press release, social media, video) and alignment of messaging across channels, consulting / coordinating with functions / sites and leaders
•    Producing content for communications initiatives and programs (e.g. leader messages, presentations, Q&A slide decks, Swiss facts and figures etc.) 
•    Supporting the Swiss-related media relations and social media activities led by the Syngenta Group communications team with a focus on trade-related media  
•    Advising and coaching CP leaders (including site managers) to build communications capability to support them communicate with impact, engage their stakeholder groups, and build two-way dialogue 
•    Leading the network of Swiss communicators, ensuring that employees are informed about key Swiss-related issues and that communicators are briefed to support the implementation of global CP communication activities or projects (e.g. financial results, CP strategy, HR topics, etc.)
•    Participating as an active member of the Syngenta Management Committee Switzerland
•    Establishing strong working relationships with the Syngenta CP and Syngenta Group Communications team to ensure strategic alignment and effective implementation, and also build connecting with ADAMA in Switzerland
•    Acts as the point person for all Switzerland CP-related communication matters
 

Qualifikationen

Requirements

•    8+ years communications experience or related field 
•    Bachelor or Master’s degree in communications or related discipline
•    Significant professional experience with integrated strategic communications, social media and channel management, brand and reputation building, stakeholder engagement, events, issues management, change management 
•    Work experience with issue management
•    Ability to develop and implement communications strategies to address business challenges and to engage diverse stakeholder groups
•    Experience in driving solutions with senior leadership 
•    Developing strategic content strategy leveraging a mix of channels across both digital and traditional media
•    Ability to build rapport, trust and credibility with leaders, key stakeholders and other communicators
•    Experience in working with cross-functional / cross cultural teams 
•    Agency management for delivery of communications services
•    Excellent project management skills
•    German / Swiss German (native) and very strong English – other languages a plus
•    Outstanding writing and verbal communication skills across different media
•    Strong networking skills
•    A strong working understanding of Swiss media and stakeholder organizations, and an existing professional network
